New blog
So I realize that I did a horrible job keeping this blog up to date. That is obvious in the lack of information and followers.

Jackson
Cue the Johnny Cash impersonators because WE'RE GOING TO JACKSON!!
About 3 weeks ago Rob had an interview with Eaton Aerospace in Jackson, MS. He came home thinking that he was not qualified for the job because it is something he has never had to do before. He said that in his interview he was completely honest with the guys and just told them that either he had a little experience with program X but wasn't a pro at it or didn't have a clue what they were talking about.
Well...
Rob got a call from Eaton today offering him a job. He is planning to accept the job on Monday. He starts 2 weeks after graduation and we get married 3 weeks after he starts. He will receive full benefits and 2 weeks vacation time right off the bat (with one of those weeks already spoken for...JAMAICAN ME CRAZY!!)! We are so excited and know 100% that this is from God. We've been praying for a job offer since last fall. God has been so faithful to not only give us a job and a destination to go to after the honeymoon, but He has of course used this time for a great teaching opportunity (as He always does as long as we are willing to learn). The company wants Rob to start 2 weeks after graduation. 3 weeks after he starts we get married and I join him in the apartment for which we will be hunting in the next two weeks.
It is so amazing to me how with just one phone call our lives have changed so much. It also never ceases to amaze me how perfect God's timing is. If it were up to us we would've had a job offer and an apartment all lined up last November. But God knew that if that were the case, Rob would not do well in his classes and I would probably stop hanging out with people and would have already moved to MS in my mind. His timing is ALWAYS better than ours. Why is that so hard for us to remember?
I don't know the answer but I do know one thing: I'm glad He continues to remind us!!

Wedding Update
Only 98 short days stand in between me and the night of my dreams. Every day I grow more and more excited to marry my one and only! So much has fallen into line with finding vendors and making plans. I now have all of my vendors set: Photographer (Heather Hester - check out her blog: heatherHphotography.blogspot.com), florist (Tiffany at Studio Flower), DJ (Jerry Dichiara), cake baker (Louise's Cakes and Things), hair and make up (girls from Cates House), and catering (Cates House). We've got our honeymoon booked (Jamaica) and our wedding night suit booked (Ross Bridge Resort). It is such a relief checking things off my list like this. The next on the list is the reception menu, finishing addressing invitations, finding bridesmaid gifts, and working on the DJ set list for the reception.
A few weeks ago Rob and I started our premarital counseling sessions. They have been so wonderful already and we've only had one actual session. The first meeting we had was just a quick interview with the counselor, so he could get to know us better, and then we each took a personality assessment. The assessment was used to figure out possible problem areas so then we could talk through them (i.e. how to solve the problem, etc).
The next time we met (our first real session) we went through two sections of the assessment and worked through the "issues". The good thing about it was that our only real "issues" were extremely petty (i.e. "my future spouse usually decides where we eat"). I am so glad that we're doing premarital counseling and I encourage every engaged couple to go through it. It is a such a great tool to have under your belt when entering the marriage contract.
I have been so blessed to have such an incredible future husband and I am so excited to see what our future holds. God is going to bless us richly as he already has, as long as we are actively seeking His throne. My prayer is that we constantly learn new ways to incorporate Biblical teachings to our relationship with each other and that we would always seek God first and trust in his leadership.

Wedding Fashion

Being a bridesmaid can be quite an investment with buying the dress, the shoes, and wedding gifts. So, I decided to make my beautiful bridesmaids world a little bit easier and let them choose the style dress they preferred so that they will actually wear it again. They are choosing the dresses from the designer Lula Kate and ordering from Bella Bridesmaid in Homewood, AL (great store..I definitely refer it to anyone). The dresses the girls have chosen are incredibly beautiful. We are going with the same color and most likely the same shoe.
I am, however, having the hardest time finding the right shoe. The girls are already spending so much money on their dresses I hate to make them pay $70-80 more dollars on shoes. I found this incredible shoe on the Nine West website. It is beautiful and I know that I would wear it again, not sure about anyone else. We will see. I'm letting them tell me. I just hate to be that bride that makes everyone spend an arm and a leg on something they don't even like. I'm getting ready to just say, "Everyone get your own shoe, just make sure it's red."

What started it all....

Rob and I met the summer after my freshman and his sophomore year of college at the University of Alabama. We were both in town during the summer which means there is a very select amount of people to choose from when it comes to hanging out. For the next two months our group of friends consisted of David C., Anna W., Scott C., Wesley, Ben, James, Ro and myself. We hung out all the time for the rest of the summer.
Once school started, we sort of parted ways. We both got caught up in our busy worlds. I especially was hard to get in contact with. He tried to get us to hang out more but it just never worked out.
Fast forward 7 months or so to the end of March. We took a picture together at Calvary's spring retreat. And after that we magically started hanging out all the time again. By April we had our first date and by May we were officially boyfriend and girlfriend. In the end of May we parted ways to go to camp. I went to Pine Cove while he stayed back waiting for his time at Camp Ozark. Side note: We had both been accepted to go to the same camps at the same time (he at Outback, first half; and i at Ozark, second half. I turned down Ozark and he turned down PC Outback).
I got back in the beginning of July and went straight to see him the second we got back in AL. When I got there Rob had a letter for me to read. In the letter he explained his feelings for me. He listed 10 reasons he LOVES me. This was the first time we had used the "L" word. After that he told me he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.
A year later, we were engaged to be married the next summer.
Our entire relationship has been in a hurry, but there is no doubt in either of our minds that this is the right thing. We both love each other with a love that can only come from Christ.
We are getting married June 19, 2010 at a wonderful garden home in Alabaster. The house is small and intimate, right up our alley.
On this blog I plan to give you all the details of our wedding planning as it happens. Seeing as I've been planning for about 5 months already, I've obviously got a lot of catching up to do to get you where I am currently. I hope to log all the humorous frustrations (and maybe the not-so-humorous frustrations) as I go along. I am also very open to your opinions and suggestions.
I hope that you find our wedding planning blog useful and even entertaining as we inch closer and closer to our big day!
Thanks for visiting,
Caitlin
